Landscaper Charles Wood founded his landscaping and gardening company in 2009 and has over two decades of experience providing high-quality and reliable landscaping services to gardens, communal spaces and parks at residential and commercial properties and commercial sites across the South West.
Charles leads a dedicated core team of gardeners, horticulturalists, plant experts and landscapers, alongside which he specialises in putting together and managing teams of skilled landscapers for specific projects and maintenance contracts for clients as diverse as local councils, landowners & farmers, renewable energy sites such as solar farms, commercial premises such as offices & clubs, community spaces such as communal gardens, schools and public areas, luxury residential developments & hotels.
In 2020 Charles moved to Dorset and relocated the Head office there. The move was to be closer to family, and at the same time to try and better serve clients in the South West, whilst giving wider scope to the growing landscape management side of the business.
Charles first started his landscaping career with a tree nursery where he gained knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs and horticulture, as well as learning about landscaping, clearing and construction, sustainability and a respect and appreciation for the environment.
Charles then spent five years at award-winning Cameron Gardens, London - starting as a landscaper, then moved up to managing budgets, costs and quotes for projects, before being promoted to General Manager responsible for designing, planning and implementing a diverse range of residential and commercial projects.
It was Charles’ love of the outdoors, plants and gardening, combined with his skills and ability to manage large-scale and complex landscaping projects, (he has a BSc Business Management, and started out working in the commercial sector) which led Charles to start his own landscaping company in 2009, serving London and the South West. As well as design and build, many of our clients have continued to retain us on maintenance contracts for over ten years - despite going out to tender many times - giving testament to our ability to consistently and reliably deliver high-quality and competitive landscaping services.
Over the years, Charles has dedicated himself to taking on, training, and mentoring aspiring horticulturalists from challenging backgrounds who have often been excluded from mainstream education and employment. He continues to provide opportunities for people eager to learn new skills, fostering a supportive environment that encourages growth and development and invests in training courses for members of his team. Charles's commitment to nurturing talent not only transforms lives but also enriches the wider community as a whole.
Charles uses sustainable methods and is always respectful and sensitive of environmental considerations within his practice. He is also "Safe Contractor Certified", takes a responsible approach to Health & Safety as well as GDPR, Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding policies.
